George Hunt

George Hunt is a partner at Practica Group. With academic training in Counseling Psychology and ten years experience as an ad agency researcher and account planner, George combines strong interviewing training and a creative approach to research design with an appreciation of the problems facing marketers. An avid game player (poker and chess), George specializes in understanding brand strategy.

George has been doing market research since 1987. Prior to being a founding member of Practica Group, George was Director of Account Planning at BBDO in Chicago - a department he helped to create. While at BBDO he developed creative strategies for many of the agency's key accounts and was a member of their highly successful new business team.

George has experience in a wide range of categories, including financial services, healthcare, hi-tech, packaged foods, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and retail. He is conversant with a range of methodologies, including individual and group interviews, ethnography, observation, etc. Recent studies include the relationship between dogs and their owners, the role of advertising icons in communicating brand and product imagery, and what mattress buyers know about what is inside mattresses. He has extensive expertise in advertising strategy, brand positioning, and new product development.

George's clients have included Anheuser-Busch, Bayer, BBDO, Briggs & Stratton, Daimler-Chrysler Corporation, General Motors, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Masterfoods, Mayo Clinic, Palm, Quaker Oats Company, S.C. Johnson, Shell Oil Company, and William Wrigley Jr. Company.

George has an undergraduate degree in Engineering from Harvard College and a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University. Before entering the field in 1987, George counseled individuals and groups in clinical settings.
